Summary[]

Schermopname (199)

Puss and El Guante reuniting after the latter awakens.

After a long time of seperation El Guante Blanco comes upon San Lorenzo looking to retire. Puss and Dulcinea are quite dismayed to see the old legend in such a state. However, Artephius mentions that there is a fountain of youth. So in order to restore El Guante Blanco's youth, Puss, Artephius, and Dulcinea go in search of the fountain of youth which is guarded by a fire breathing Sphinx, Callista. Leaving the town, they notice a sleeping Sphinx, who warns them of her sister.

Schermopname (218)

Puss and El Guante climbing to save their friends.

They encounter the hostile guardian upon reaching Fountainwood. Although The White Glove wishes to attack, Puss instead uses a diversion to take attention away from themselves, heeding advice from Dulcinea. Callista, believing herself to have successfully burnt the invaders, she goes to sleep. They encounter many different fountains with varying effects. Upon reaching and drinking from the fountain of youth, El Guante Blanco's youth is restored. However in his celebration, Callista is awakened from her slumber and kidnaps Artephius and Dulcinea. Puss and El Guante proceed to find their friends. Puss wants to come up with a plan, though his master believes it to be unnecessary for strong warriors like himself. They confront Callista, who planned to eat them, and although Puss manages to free his friends and are able to escape, the maestro wishes to defeat Callista once and for all. He fails to do this and in the end to defeat the monster he gives up his youth and returns to his old age, causing an explosion that blasts Callista into the sky, finally understanding the importance of strategy and preparation.

Puss is uncomfortable with his old teacher's friendly attitude towards Dulcinea, though the elder reassures Puss that she only has affection for him, reminding him of who she immediately ran to after she was freed. The old master bids farewell to the people, deciding not to retire and sets off on new adventures once again, and to find new pupils. Riding on his steed, though with a little pain in his hips from his mounting.

Trivia[]

  • This episode features many fountains getting labelled. However later on in "Small Change", many more fountains are introduced which have not been labelled.
  • This episode marks the first appearance of Callista and El Guante Blanco.
  • In this episode, Puss in Boots is affected by the fountain of invisible spiders and freaks out, which could corroborate a fear of spiders he mentions in the NEW PUSS IN BOOTS (series) produced for Peacock where he reveals a few facts about himself.[1]
    • He also denies having this fear in the short he mentions his fear of spiders, though this seems unlikely.
